Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do we need to pay in full before you do the job?
No, we just need a 25% deposit and then you don't need to pay the balance until the job is completed to your satisfaction.
-
What if we just want to buy a fireplace and fit it ourselves?
That's no problem. We are happy to sell to you on a supply only basis and all of our products will be delivered to you using our own transport by drivers experienced in handling the product.
-
Do you sell your products on the internet?
No, we don't feel that fireplaces are a great product to sell over the net, we feel that they need to be seen in the flesh to fully appreciate exactly what it is you're looking at. The web can be very deceiving.
-
Would you come over and do a survey for us?
Yes, no problem. Once you have visited our showrooms and we have an idea of what you are looking at, we will carry out a site survey.
-
Are the fireplaces in your showroom the only ones you do?
No, even though our showroom displays are extensive they are but a small sample of the products we can offer.
-
We have quite a small chimney breast, so it means a lot of the fireplaces in your showroom won't fit, what should I do?
Don't worry, the vast majority of our fireplaces can be made to measure. *In cases where the chimney breast is very small, we can extend it and re-plaster it if required.
-
I would like an electric fire but don't like cables trailing all over the place, can you get around this?
Yes, our fitters are masters of concealing wires, gas pipes and fixings where necessary.
-
We have a gas fire at present but would love an electric fire, can it be done?
Yes, it’s no problem at all to change from a gas fire to an electric fire.
-
We are worried that if we have our old fireplace removed, it’s going to make a terrible mess and we will need builders, plasterers etc. Is it better to just leave it?
No, here at Martin James Fireplaces we are removing fireplaces on a daily basis and as part of that process, we undertake all necessary building work to make sure you end up with a clean and tidy completed job.
-
We would love a new fireplace but don't want to replace our carpet, is there any way around this?
Yes, in most cases we can make a larger hearth unit to cover the cut out in the carpet.
